TrailTech Computer Update

This device is GREAT! I've used it for several rides and can't imagine riding again without the computer. If you haven't gotten yours yet, what are you waiting for? Visit www.trailtech.net and order it now, you won't be disappointed.

Don't get me wrong I've had a couple problems with it, but I've also experienced several problems with the bike over the same period of time. On the positive side every problem I've experienced with the TrailTech computer has been addressed by the friendly people at TrailTech and quickly resolved with little to no cost to myself.

The first ride I went on the device functioned perfectly. I quickly found the information available to be invaluable and lots of fun to know. We rode over 100 miles the first outing and knew at a glance how far we traveled, how long it took, how much "actual riding time" we completed, the average speed, etc... It was fun at the end of the day just to click the MODE button and see the various information. However it was on the next ride the unit began to malfunction. I contacted TrailTech via email, and they quickly resolved the issue. I have included the email thread for you to read (hopefully formatted to make it easier to read or skip).

Subject: Couple problems with my new panoram.

I recently (within 30 days) purchased the Panoram for my 2000 KTM. I've experienced a couple problems already. During the first ride it worked flawless, and I was very happy with the wealth of information the computer displays. However at the end of the second use I was trying to check the total time display when the computer apparently reset itself and went into initial setup mode. Mind you I only pressed the center button to have this happen. I did not hold all three buttons down for 3 seconds to initiate the reset. I was able to go through the initial setup procedure and the computer was up and working again. Then about 2 hours later while unloading the bike the display would not appear. I had to remove the battery and reseat it to get the computer to respond. So I figured the battery was probably the suspect and went out and purchase a new CR2032 battery. Installing the new battery and again performing the initial setup everything seemed fine. However when it came to riding time the computer would not turn on. No clock display, unable to turn computer on by pressing mode button. So again, I removed the battery and after several attempts of having to reseat the battery the unit finally turned on. It performed flawless for the 133 mile ride, but I did notice the LO indicator would occasionally come on then go off. I remember reading somewhere that the estimated battery life is 1.5 years, but I am apparently only averaging 1.5 rides. Could there be something wrong with the unit? How do I go about getting this fixed?

Thank you for your attention to the matter.

Thank you for the prompt responses and getting the replacement unit out quickly. Feel free to bookmark or link to the page, hopefully someone else will be able to benefit from the information.

Thanks again,
Doug

I received the Endurance model replacement over the weekend and quickly snapped it onto the existing mount and I was ready to ride. I am happy to report that had no problems with the new unit for several rides, until somehow I think a very unusual thing happened. Somehow the magnet fell out of the retaining clip near the end of a recent ride. Take a look at the picture.

So I contacted TrailTech again and they were happy to send me a replacement retainer with a new magnet without any questions asked. Even with the small problems I've encountered it's comforting to know they offer the 1 year warranty and stand behind the product. So far the TrailTech Endurance Computer has been my favorite add-on to the motorcycle.
